Headway have been involved in the steering group behind a new report called the Neuromapping Project, which describes the services provided by voluntary sector organisations in the community around the country. The Neuromapping Project has been undertaken by the Neurological Alliance of Ireland and the Disability Federation of Ireland (Headway are members of both organisations) together with the HSE.

Headway’s Richard Stables, on the steering group commented:

This project has developed a common framework to identify and describe those services.  It’s used a language and scheme of categorisation that’s been developed by the sector itself using a co-designed approach.

By promoting this common language and this way of thinking and talking about long term supports the project has two important aims:

One is to ensure a continued significance of the sectors contribution when it comes to service design and implementation. A contribution that hasn’t hitherto been particularly visible. The second more important aim is that we don’t forget about the complex long term needs of people once they’ve gone beyond the hospital gate.
