We recently launched the “Headway Resilience Map” in Cork City Library during Lifelong Learning week. The Headway Resilience Map is a multimedia collection of personal stories and recollections from clients in the Cork area. They recorded stories and photos and put them together as part of a joint project with the Cork Folklore Project.
The launch went really well, hosted by Jamie Furey, archivist with the Cork Folklore Project.
As well as our staff, clients and members of the public, the event was attended by U.C.C. staff from the original Folklore Project, Julie Holland (ACE U.C.C), and Ailbhe Cunningham (Test Site).
This was a great opportunity to link in with other community groups and educators regarding programmes and services which may be of interest and benefit to some of our clients.
For example, Ailbhe Cunningham of Test Site, highlighted a venue in the heart of Cork City which we can potentially use in the future to host groups and events. We have been invited to see the venue to assess it’s possible suitability for some of our groups. This may prove to be a very useful resource as we draw closer to vacating the Carrigrohane site.
We are also hopeful of linking in again with Jamie Furey to possibly run a similar project with clients in the community or rural areas in Cork.
The “Headway Resilience Map” is now live, and the contributions/stories are also accessible on the main Memory Map.
Please find the attached link below, and then highlight the blue “dot” to hear our stories.
