Covid-19 Help and Guidance

HSE Helpline is providing up to date Covid 19 information on 1850 24 1850 or 041 6850 300 Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. See their website with further information at https://www2.hse.ie/coronavirus/

Alone has a specific Covid 19 virus helpline for older people – tel: 0818 222 024. It operates from 8am to 8pm.

Family Carers

Care Alliance Ireland have set up a Facebook group for carers who cannot attend their normal carers groups. It is run by Care Alliance staff and is only open to carers. See www.facebook.com/groups/FamilyCarerOnlineSupportGroupIreland

Caring for someone with a stroke? The Irish Heart nurses are available on 01 668 5001 during the Covid-19 crisis, Monday to Friday, 9-5. Irish Heart also have a Stroke Carers Facebook group

Help with shopping, prescriptions and medical appointments

If you are over 70 or are a vulnerable person, you can get help to stay indoors safely. There are Covid-19 Community Response Forums in each county now. They can arrange things such as someone to keep in touch and do shopping, links in to local services and transport to medical appointments. Gardai at your local station can collect prescriptions and support you to get to medical appointments. Contact your local Garda station to arrange this service.

Shopping  A number of supermarkets have launched priority shopping hours for older and vulnerable customers. Some may also deliver. Contact your local store for details.
