26 miles for 26 heroes Blog 2

Hi all,

Welcome to blog post number 2 of our 26 awareness videos as part of 26miles for 26 heroes.

Today we are raising awareness of encephalitis. Encephalitis is one of the many conditions that can result in an acquired brain injury. It is caused by either infection, which is usualy viral, or by autoimmune conditions. Encephalitis causes inflammation of the brain tissue. The Encephalitis society in the United Kingdom is a great resource for individuals living with this condition. You can check out there website here: http://www.encephalitis.info/

The accompanying video shows Headway client, John O’Gorman, speak about his experience of acquiring a brain injury through encephalitis. He also speaks about how Headway has impacted on his life.

In the next blog post we will be looking at the varied consequences of brain injury and how they can impact on a persons life. Don’t forget to share among your friends and family so together we can create some much needed awareness of brain injury.
